Seamus Jude Edney
Seamus Edney is the principal of the practice and qualified as a Solicitor in 1985. He has over 20 years experience of personal injury and clinical negligence work and maintains an exclusively Claimant specialist practice managing claims covering all types of accidents, many high value including serious head injuries and fatalities.
Seamus is only one of a handful of solicitors in the country to be both on the Law Society’s Specialist Panels for Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury. He is also on the Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA’s) Specialist Clinical Negligence Panel and Headway’s Approved Personal Injury Solicitors List. He holds Senior Litigator status with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). He is assisted in his work by Denis Knight (an experienced personal injury Legal Executive) and Chris Evans (a qualified Dentist who is re-training to be a Solicitor).
Career highlights for Seamus include obtaining a £3 million settlement for a young man with a serious brain injury who will now need care and support for the rest of his life. He also acted for Arnel Cabrera during 2008 in his clinical negligence claim against Great Western Hospital arising from the tragic death of his wife during childbirth in 2004. This case attracted huge media interest and we understand that S J Edney is the first law firm in legal history to obtain an unlawful killing verdict against a hospital at an Inquest. A number of his cases are regularly reported by the local media.
