We acted for a client (now aged 46) employed by a company in Ledbury, Glos as a printer. During January 2013, he was attempting to replace one of the sleeves on a printing press when it became jammed and, whilst attempting to remove it, he sustained a soft tissue injury to his lower back. He was left with severe, disabling, ongoing pain.

It was unclear to our medical expert the cause of his ongoing pain. He underwent treatment at hospital including a number of spinal injections which gave him some relief. His doctors felt that, with further treatment, there should be some improvement and this would enable him to return to employment, although he would no longer be able to work as a printer.

An early admission of liability was made by the insurers of his employer and, after protracted discussions on quantum, we were able to reach a settlement for our client.

S. J. Edney solicitors obtained compensation of £70,000 for this client during 2014
