We have been acting for a client (aged 64) who works as a self-employed bricklayer. During August 2013, he was working on a construction site when some temporary floor boards collapsed underneath him, causing him to fall to the ground some 2½ metres, injuring his back.

He attended hospital and was treated for a crushed vertebrae fracture. He did not require surgery and after a phased return to work, he made a complete recovery from his injury.

Letters of claim were sent to the main contractor on-site, together with one of their sub-contractors, who we held to blame for his accident, but they denied liability. Personal injury proceedings had to be issued at Court and, shortly, afterward the parties were able to agree upon a settlement for our client.

S. J. Edney solicitors obtained compensation of £6,000 for this client during 2015
