We have been acting for a client (now aged 37) in connection with a road traffic accident during January 2017.

Briefly, on the day in question, he was travelling as a rear seat passenger in his employer’s van on the M4, when it was involved in a high-speed collision with the Defendant’s motor car.  The impact was to the rear of the vehicle in which he was travelling.  The Defendant was travelling well in excess of 100 mph.

As a consequence of the accident, he sustained a number of injuries:-

  • A head injury causing tinnitus in his left ear (which is severe) and partial tinnitus in his right ear
  • Rib and shoulder injuries (caused by the seatbelt)
  • Neck and back pain

He made a speedy recovery from his soft tissue injuries but unfortunately he has now been left with permanent tinnitus which impacts on his daily life.  Fortunately, he is still able to work.

The other driver was uninsured so a claim had to be submitted to the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) pursuant to the Uninsured Driver’s Agreement.  They admitted liability and after obtaining medical evidence, we were able to settle this claim without the need to issue proceedings.

S J Edney solicitors obtained compensation of £37,500.00 for this client during 2019
