Our elderly client (aged 89) was attending her local Bingo hall and as she was walking up the tiled step, her walking stick slipped on the wet surface causing her to fall. She injured her right knee and sustained bad facial bruising and a minor head injury. Liability was initially denied by the defendants, who stated that the step was dry and that our client slipped on the wet pavement rather than the step itself. It was our client’s case that bingo halls are regularly visited by elderly customers and that a non slip mat should have been placed on the step or a hand rail installed.

S J Edney solicitors obtained compensation of £5,000 for this client during 2015
